Mash Ki Daal Chicken

Ingredients

  • 2 cup oil
  • 8 onions · thinly sliced
  • Sabut garam masala
  • 4 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 kg chicken
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 tsp red chilli powder
  • 4 tsp crushed red chillies
  • 4 tbsp coriander powder
  • 2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 8 tomatoes · blended
  • 8 cups soaked mash dal
  • 6 cups water
  • Garam masala · for sprinkling
  • Green chillies
  • Fresh coriander leaves
  • Lemon

Instructions

  1. Heat ½ cup oil in a pot and add 2 sliced onions. Fry until golden brown.
  2. Add sabut garam masala and 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste.
  3. Add ½ kg chicken and cook well for about 5 minutes.
  4. Add salt, red chilli powder, crushed red chillies, coriander powder, and turmeric powder.
  5. Add the 2 blended tomatoes and mix well. Cook until the oil separates.
  6. Add 2 cups of soaked mash dal and 1½ cups of water.
  7. Pressure cook for 5-8 minutes on medium heat.
  8. Release the pressure, open the lid, and give it a good mix.
  9. Sprinkle some garam masala on top.
  10. Garnish with green chillies and fresh coriander leaves, and serve with lemon.
