Cooking the meat: heat ½ cup oil in a pot.
Add 2 sliced onions and fry until golden brown.
Add ginger garlic paste and whole garam masala, sauté for a minute.
Add beef/mutton and cook for 2 minutes.
Add salt, red chili powder, crushed red chilies, coriander powder, and turmeric powder. Add 2 blended tomatoes and mix well.
Add 3 cups of water, cover, and pressure cook for 15-20 minutes until meat is tender.
Preparing the daal: in a separate pot, boil 2 cups soaked chana daal for about 15 minutes.
Skim off the white foam during boiling, then drain the water.
Combining daal & meat: add the boiled daal to the cooked meat. Cook for 2-3 minutes until oil separates.
Add 2 cups water, cover, and pressure cook for 5 minutes until the daal is fully tender.
Garnish & serve: garnish with fresh coriander leaves and sliced green chilies; serve hot with naan, roti, or rice.
